TEACHING TEAM
ANGEL BONORA (Spain, 1960)
He is a specialist in Movement Análisis. In 1995 he was recommended by Lecoq and he soon became one of Berty Tovias closest collaborators. Since then he has been one of the pillars of the pedagogical team in Estudis.
In 1992 he graduated from L'École Jacques Lecoq in Paris and then continued sudying with Lecoq at his Laboratory of the Study of Movement. He is a graduate of the "Institut d'Etudes Théâtrales" from Universidad de la Sorbonne Nouvelle de París (1994).
In 1997 he attended the XIII Commedia Dell'Arte Workshop directed by Antonio Fava in Italy. At the same time he participated as an actor in several productions in Paris, Spain and England. His teaching experience began in Vincennes, France, where taught acting from 1991 to 1993. Then he taught the course "From Improvisation to Creation" at the "Muestra Internacional de Mimo" in Sueca (1993), collaborating with Jacques Lecoq. Since 1995 he has diected several Commedia dell'Arte workshops at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona.
In the year 2000, with the support of Estudis, Angel Bonora founded TEATRACCIÓ, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to develop projects related to culture, youth, health and education. Berty Tovías is its president.
CHRISTIAN ATANASIU (Berlin, 1955)
He studied Arts in the University of Kassel and Pantomime with Ella Jaroschnewizc in Paris and later on in the "Institut del Teatre" in Barcelona. After that, he completed his studies with Phillipe Gaulier. He is a theatre author and director and he has lived in Barcelona for 20 years where he studied mime and many courses specializing in Clown. He has created several plays both solo -La Tarántula, QUEmexpliQUE!? and the dOndedOndÓnde- and as part of a team -Circus Rigolo (France), Theaterhaufen Ouweya (Germany). He has also directed Marta Gorriz's América. His experience teaching reaches several cities both in Spain and Germany. He is now a teacher at the Interpretation Department in the "Institut de Teatre" in Barcelona and he has been a teacher at Estudis de Teatre de Berty Tovías team for over six years.
CHRISTOPHE MARCHAND (Marginy la Châtel, 1948)
He has worked as an actor in plays by Peter Handke, B. Chartreux, Nicolo Sigal among others. He is a Graduate from the Jacques Lecoq school (1978-80) and he has been a teacher there since 1981. For five years he also directed his own theatre laboratory: Jeu-Desir-Jouer. He produces many solo shows. He has taught courses in Holland, France, Israel, Chile, etc. Christophe has participated in all nine editions of the Estudis de Teatre International Theatre Workshop in Barcelona. On top of everything else, he paints and writes novels.
FELIPE CABEZAS (Chile, 1979)
In Chile, where he was born, he studied classic theatre, improvisation and street performance. For a while, he taught at the same school where he had studied. He also directed and acted for a short period, before moving to Barcelona where he started studying Lecoq techniques with Berty Tovías. He graduated from Estudis in June 2004. Since then he has directed three plays and performed in several shows. He participates often in exchanges and workshops related to the mask and theatre of gesture in Spain, France and Italy. He is one of the founding members of La Ira Teatro that has been to festivals and performed some terms in theatres of Barcelona. Woking with the production company AVED he has made three professional short films. In Padova (Italy) he studied Commedia dell'Arte with Antonio Fava and back in Barcelona he learned how to make masks with Javier Villena. Since 2007 he teaches Commedia dell'Arte in Estudis de Teatre.
HARRIS GORDON (Canada, 1960)
He discovered the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq through the company Teatre de Complicité while he was studying acting in London at the East 15 Acting School. He moved to Paris to continue his training at "L'École Interational de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq" and he graduated in 1991. He has participated in shows in Spain, France, England, Italy, Germany and Canada. He has worked in companies as diverse as Parti Pris in Dublín or WerkSpiel in Freiburg, and here in Catalonia with Els Comediants or TNC (Teatre Nacional de Catalunya). He directed the plays "Buscant Abraham…" with Carles Chamarro, "Giulietta" with Pepa Plana and "Un jour" in Mercat de las Flors. At the moment he combines theatre, cinema and television with his teaching task in Estudis, where he has been part of the teaching team since 2003.
MERCHE OCHOA (Spain, 1967)
Graduated from the Escuela de Arte Dramático in La Rioja. In 1989 she moved to Barcelona to continue her studies at the Col·legi with Berty Tovías (1989-90). After she finished the Second Level she concentrated her interest in the Clown and continued her training with Johnny Melville, Eric de Bont. She is a founder member of the Clown Company Trío por Narices and has worked with numerous theatre companies. She now combines the stage with teaching, specializing in the clown. She taught at the 4th International Stage and in 2005 she joined the teaching team at Estudis de Teatre.
NICO KOHEN (Montevideo, 1976)
After studying medical school and theatre in Argentina he worked as an assistant director in advertising cinema and theatre (The Violinist on the Roof, Zorba, the Greek, Venice, etc.) with Pepe Soriano and China Zorrilla. In Buenos Aires, as part of the company Quien es quien, he acted during over a year in the show Configuraciones, based on Borges poetry that Susana Rivero directed. He went to England in 2000 to study cinema and theatre direction with the well known BBC Drama director, John Sichel, In England, he directed numerous short films and plays (Hamlet, The Jungle Book, The servant and his two teachers, among others). While participating in a Stage with Thomas Pattki, he discovered Lecoq's pedagogy. And he decided to train with Berty Tovías in Estudis de Teatre de Barcelona, where, he also took the Voice and the Movement Laboratories. At the moment he is part of the teaching team.
PHILIPPE PEYCHAUD (France)
He is a graduate from in Paris (1989-1991). He extends his training at the Escuela de Arte y de Comunicación de Sao Paulo (Brasil) and in Bordeaux (France). He develops his professional career in the Théatre de la Jacquerie (France) with Alain Mollot as an actor and co-author of several shows: Cabaret monstre, Roman de famillas, etc. In Portugal he participates on the creation of the company "Comedias do Minho" as a trainer and director of several shows: "Quando as nuvens se disiparem", "Antigona"… He works as a teacher in "L'École Interational de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq" and in the Superior Center for the Circus Arts (Chalons). At the moment he is a guest teacher at ESADIB (Palma de Mallorca), where he teaches Technique and Interpretation of the Mask.
He is participating on the X International Stage at Estudis.
SALI CERVIÀ (Catalonia, 1966)
She is a graduate in Drama by the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona and from "L'École Interational de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq" (Paris, 1991). Since then she combines the stage with teaching. As an actress she has worked with Albert Boadella in "Els Joglars" and in Teatre Lliure, with Lluís Pasqual. For a while she apperared in several TV shows in TV3. As a director she formed her own theatre group "Compañía Memoria" and created the play "Sóc aquí". In October 2005 she joined the teaching team at Estudis. Sebastián Serrano asked for her collaboration as a specialist in body language and she put together with some students from Estudis 4 episodes about non verbal communication for the program "Einstein a la platja" in BTV (Barcelona TV).
SERGIO CLARAMUNT (Valencia,1962)
He is a graduate from the Jacques Lecoq's school and he has a degree in Theatrical Studies from University of La Sorbonne, Paris III. He has worked as an actor, a mime, a clown and a dancer in Spain, France, Belgium, Germany and Great Britain as part of several companies. At the moment he is author and clown-actor in Vida clownyugal, by the company Puntoclown and founder and artistic director of Payasosital, a non-governmental, non-profit organisation. In 2002 he was a teacher at Estudis de Teatre and he has, since then, collaborated regularly with the school.
BERTY TOVÍAS (Barcelona 1952)
He studied with Boadella and Fabià Puigserver in the ESAD (well known as the "Institut del Teatre") in Barcelona from where he graduated in 76. In 77 he became part of the group Dagoll Dagom. (No hablaré, Antaviana, Noche de San Juan). That's where he met Rubianes, whom he directed some years later in his first great success ˇÑo! (85). He was given a grant by the French Government and he studied in Paris with Lecoq (82-84). Back in Barcelona, he met again with Jordi Mesalles, a friend and fellow student. With him he put together several plays by classic and contemporary authors and his passion for pedagogy begins - director of Col·legi del Teatre de Barcelona from 86 to 97 and teacher at the "Institut" since 89- while he also directs creation theatre shows with Catalan and foreign companies. He founded Estudis de Teatre in 1997. This year he is organizing the 10th International Workshop.
